To coincide with an update to the hardware used for processing emails, new spam filtering protocols have also been added to further reduce the number of unwanted emails hitting customer mailboxes.
Emails flagged due to a high likelyhood of spam or other dangerous content will automatically be quarantied.
This change means that customers who use our server based email provision will receive a daily notification email when emails have been quarantied in that 24 hour period.
Customers can then choose to release any incorrectly caught messages with the system learning from mistakenly marked content.
Quarantine emails can themselves be a source of phishing so our emails will never ask for any details. Instead, all the secure links contained within the email will direct users straight to their quanartine list. If ever unsure, we are happy to check the validity of any messages received.
In addition to these changes, a new ‘Spam detection settings’ section is now available within the cPanel hosting control panel allowing customers to modify the spam tolerances applied by the filtering servers. This allows the settings to be adjusted if found to be too strong or weak - although for most, the default settings should provide the right level of protection.
These new changes further build upon the spam filtering that was already in place and help to reduce spam messages hitting customer inboxes.
